Trip to Kipling

Cynthia, Merodee, Karissa

At the anniversary celebration (Josh is missing because he was playing a provincial hockey game).

Josh's 14th birthday celebration

Ethan, after having a delightful afternoon playing hockey with the boys.

On January 23rd, we started our trip to Mike's home town of Kipling, Saskatchewan. It took us just over 17 hours to get there. To say that Mike and I were grateful for modern technology,(DVD player, DS games, i-pods), is an understatement! After making it safely, we were greeted by Mike's family with hugs and smiles. We also were reminded what minus forty degree weather feels like! It was a bit of a shock to our systems! I think I got the biggest kick out of the fact that Mike's family stored their ice cream and ice outside! Mike's parents celebrated their 40th anniversary, which was a lovely evening in the local community center. The children played the piano, recited a poem, and sang a song. Kind tributes were paid, and congratulations given. It was nice to see everyone and to catch up. During our visit, the boys had a hockey game - Ethan was in heaven, all of his uncles and boy cousins are quite good at the sport, and it was a thrill for him to participate playing with them.

How fun. It was good to see pictures of Mike's family...it's been a while since I've seen any of them and the picture of Ethan is classic! What a stud! My boys have been longing to play ice hockey. Carter especially loves street hockey..another reason to live closer, right?!
